Event-Driven Payment Platform
Production billing and payment platform built at Placepoint (formerly PropCloud / Softwrd Ltd) — an event-driven system serving 30K+ concurrent users and generating $500K in revenue.
Overview
Designed and built the core backend for subscription billing, payment processing, and user authentication. The platform runs on AWS with Go microservices, Kafka for event streaming, and a full observability stack.
Key Contributions
- Event-Driven Architecture: Kafka-based payment flows with idempotent consumers and dead-letter handling
- Auth & Billing: JWT-based authentication, subscription management, and payment gateway integration
- Observability: Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, and ELK logging for production monitoring
- Infrastructure: AWS ECS, Lambda, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
- Performance: 99.9% uptime, 30% latency reduction through caching and query optimization
Tech Stack
- Backend: Go (primary), TypeScript/Node.js
- Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS
- Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB
- Cloud: AWS ECS, Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
- APIs: REST, gRPC, OpenAPI
Impact
- $500K revenue generated through the billing platform
- 30K+ concurrent users served on AWS
- Excellence Award for Technical Brilliance (Placepoint, 2025)
